WOMANHOOD ISSUE IN THI NOVELS MUHADARAT AND BİKES
In this study, the points of view of womanhood issues are reftected through prominent female charactersb y starting of! on the novels entitled Muhadarat by Fatma Aliye and Bikes by Emine Semiye, who are the daughters of Ahmet Cevdet Paşa, who is one of the significantf igures of the Tanzimat Period. In both of the novels, the issues concerning womanhood, which was begun to be questioned within the period in question, are voiced without breaking of! the tradition but with an understanding which suggests the new living conditions introduced by Modernity. The issues directly concerning womanhood such as marrying by getting acquainted with, polygamy, divorce and woman education are among the themes treated in Muhadarat and Bikes.
