CRITICISM OF BOURGEOIS AND MORAL SPIRITUAL PROBLEMS IN THE STORY “OPEN WINDOW” BY ELCHIN EFENDIYEV

In study, the first story “Open Window” by 1960 generation writer Elchin Efendiyev, who made significant contribution to formation and development of new Azerbaijani prose was analysed in detail in the context of moral values, which became one of the main problems of Soviet society. Our study aims to reveal bourgeois atmosphere of Azerbaijan Soviet society through story by dealing with subject that hasn’t been examined in detail and hasn’t been emphasised much so far. In article, both innovative spirit of the 1960 period, which is the turning point in the history of Azerbaijani literature, influence of social events on prose and criticism of bourgeois, moral spiritual problems and its negative consequences in line with the main theme of Elchin Efendiyev’s story “Open Window” are discussed. The dilemma and impasse that people find themselves in, the moral decay and disconnection from their essence, are clearly reflected in the context of Hasan's family in Soviet society where materialism has taken precedence over spiritual values. In this context, the protagonist of story, Hasan’s struggle against bourgeois in his family, which he reunited with after years and his right moral stance against persistent efforts of the family members to attract him to their side, he isn’t breaking away from his values and his victory are conveyed in all its subtleties.
