Questioning the existence of canon in classical Turkish literature texts is among the active topics of the last period. The canon discussions in Turkish literature started with the Tanzimat period, but not before. The biggest reason for this may be the idea that Divan literature should not be included with the letter reform movement. Another reason may be that there is no institutionalization of the western concept of canon in Ottoman Turkish literature. The source of this article is the poetry collection that was my doctoral dissertation. Based on this collection, a perspective has been formed on the possibility of the existence of canon in eastern texts as well as in western texts. In the article, first of all, canon is mentioned as it is a more distant term in Divan literature. Then, the history of canon in Turkish literature is given. Afterwards, inquiries are made about the existence of canon in Classical Turkish literature. In this section, we will analyze the common literary canon in Divan literature texts. This is a missing point in the canon of Turkish literature. This deficiency It has been tried to emphasize that Classical Turkish literature should not be rejected in order to be eliminated.
