WOMEN STORYTELLERS IN MUHİT JOURNAL

With the proclamation of the Republic, there was a great increase in the number of journals and most of these journals aimed to explain the ideology of the new regime to the public. Especially after the alphabet reform, journals play a major role in the transfer of the new written language to the public. Accordingly, one of the journals that emerged in this period was Muhit. From 1928 to 1933, 55 issues of Muhit journal were printed with the new alphabet, ezcept fort he entire first issue and half of the second issue. It should alsa be noted that Muhit was not only a literary journal. The journal covers a wide range of topics such as sports, national affairs, women’s and children’s pages and biographies of celebrities. This study will focus on women storytellers and their stories, which have an important place in Muhit. It can be said that these women storytellers who also wrote in other genres in the journal, wrote their stories wtih the intention of giving a message to the public rather than aesthetic concerns. In this direction, this study will try to take a closer look at the messages that the stories to be discussed want to convey. In addition, this research aims to provide introductory information about our women writers, some of whose names will be heard for the first time.
