Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar is a poet who adhered to the pure understanding of poetry throughout his artistic life. However, with the effect of the book Garip, jointly published by Orhan Veli, Melih Cevdet and Oktay Rifat in 1941, attracting attention, he writes texts similar to the poem Garip. These texts written by him were not included in the poetry book he published in 1961, about a year before his death. Many years after his death, it was found in the Orhan Veli archives and published in Kitap-lık magazine. In these short-form texts, which are stated to have been sent to Orhan Veli by Mina Urgan, it is seen that the poet tried to write something similar to the Garip poem. In this article, Tanpınar's attitude towards the Garip poem and his views will be discussed first. Later, his analogies to the Garip poem will be evaluated.
