INTRODUCTION TO INTERSEMIOTIC ANALYSIS: The Example of “Ekphrasis”

Intersemiotics, a sub-method of intertextual analysis, is based on questioning the exchanges between two artistic forms (for example, literature painting, literature cinema, literature music, etc.). The first definition of this concept was by Georges Molinié in his Sémiostylistique. L’Effet de l’art. Undoubtedly, the origin of the naming of both intertextual and intersemiotic is the works of Mikhail Bakhtin and Julia Kristeva, who was inspired by him. In this article, we will briefly focus on the orientation of an intersemiotic analysis, then we will first define the concept of ekphrasis as a method of intersemiotics, and then we will focus on the traces of the picture in some travel narratives of some writers.
