THE BAYONETS' SHADOW IN PEYAMI SAFA'S NOVELS

Abstract Peyami Safa's novels appear in the form of conflicts between those who embrace national and spiritual integrity, who turn to their own culture, who survive by holding on to their values despite their spiritual crises, both with themselves, their environment and with others who are the exact opposite of them. What Peyami Safa reflects on the content of his novel is equivalent to whatever he is occupied with and he criticizes in his intellectual writings. His novels open the door to a drama in the shadow of a collapsed empire and wars as an east-west issue. With the inner intellectual perception of the period, the pain of staying as"us", the admiration shown to what does not belong to us and the subsequent corruption are the starting points of his works that turn into action both in the intellect and in the content of the novel and take the lead of the fiction. The problem of this study is analysed through Peyami Safa's Gün Doğuyor stage play, Süngülerin Gölgesinde which was published in 1924 and not yet translated to Latin alphabet about National Struggle period, Ateş published under the pseudonym Server Bedî, Mahşer, Bir Akşamdı, Sözde Kızlar novels.
