SEZAİ KARAKOÇ’S VIEW ON EDUCATION: 1 ELEMENTARY, INTERMEDIATE AND HIGH SCHOOL
Sezai Karakoç is among the poets and thinkers of Republican Era. Besides poems he has essays, commentaries and thought writings. In such writings he deals with such diverse topics as religion, language, literature, art, East, West, individual, family, society, culture and civilisation as well as education and learning which concerns the society directly. What distinguishes him is that he is able to see those concepts and educational institutions from an indigenous and modern viewpoint fed by tradition.
Sezai Karakoç’s conception of education is based on the idea that education is an “ engagement with a purpose”. Identification of his ideas on education based on texts will enable us not only to be familiar with his art but also shed light on the current search for literature teaching.
In this work we will put emphasis on his thoughts about elementary, intermediate and high school education.
