THE FACTORS CONSTİTUTİNG DYSTOPİA İN THE NOVEL THE GENERAL OF THE GARBAGE DUMP : COLLECTİVE AMNESİA AND FORGETTİNG, CAUSİNG TO FORGET
Literature of dystopia presents a moody view for the future and undertakes a mission of showing the negative cases that will be able to be experienced in the future by expressing the various anxieties. Power in dystopia displays a totalitarian attitude on the individuals by restricting the areas of freedom. Bureaucratic structuring, which has been constituted accordingly, creates oppression, threat or fear by using various factors such as technology, science and media as an ideological control instrument and triggers the occurrence of the conformist individuals. In Oya Baydar’s work called The General Of The Garbage Dump that shows the characteristics of dystopia, the fact that the collective memory has been subjected to the loss through the technological applications by the totalitarian power, as a result of this, occurrence of the conformist individuals who have awareness deprivation, get used, and play ostrich and social chaos coming out of this situation are mentioned. In the work that becomes prominent in terms of allegorical narration, the fact that the forgotten past has been questioned gradually and the fact that the present time has been tried to be interpreted are handled in the light of the draft of the novel that psychiatrist, in the situation of the leading character, found in a lost geography.
