THE CHANGEABILITIES IN STYLE IN ŞEMSETTİN SAMİ’S NOVEL, TAAŞŞUK-I TAL’AT AND FİTNAT
One of the means of deciding on the literariness of a work is its analysis in terms of stylistics. In other words, stylistics means to try to analyse it in terms of the aesthetic qualities. Turkish literature came to face to face with the new literary genres originating from the West. And this confrontation which required a new language and style brought about a new period of combination of the modern and the ancient in the history of Turkish literature. This state of literary affairs brought forth a series of problems in the language and structure of the novels of this period. In this article, we will discuss Şemsettin Sami’s novel, Ta’lat and Fitnat in stylistic terms and at certain points comments on the general state of the novel in this period.
