Mavi, the art and literature journal published by a group of high school teenagers eager to artistry between 1952-1956 in Ankara succeeded to make an indelible impression in Turkish Literature history with the platform and its asserted opinions. Various arguments and opinions recently have been expressed on the sufficiency of Mavi in terms of shaping further literal currents and whether the grouping around the journal reached the sizes of such a current. Mavi journal, which, at the very beginning, as the name reflects, , was a realist journal committed to Anatolian geography and humanity, far from politics and material objectives, lately slipped toward social realism with the contribution of writings sent to the journal by Attilâ İlhan, no more than approximately two years after initial publication. Attilâ İlhan set forth in the Mavi journal the principles of the ‘social realism’ thesis revealed in many other journals for a while, and required many young and naïve Mavi authors to adopt an artistic comprehension highlighting ‘social realism’ and ‘image’. Attilâ İlhan, in his writings published in Mavi journal, criticized the socialist poets of many generations, with his own expression, the active realists, and literal celebrities such as Garipçiler, Fazıl Hüsnü, Cahit Sıtkı, Cahit Külebi and Behçet Necatigil. Upon the reactions received the teenagers after a time declared that they were not related with Atillâ İlhan or ‘social realism’ but they continued the movement of challenging the living celebrities of literature. The writers highlighted in Mavi with prose and story were Güner Sümer, Ferit Edgü, Demir Özlü, Orhan Duru and Muzaffer Erdost. The poets of the journal were Ahmet Oktay, Yılmaz Gruda, Bekir Çiftçi, Ülkü Arman and Asaf Çiyiltepe. A part of those litterateurs were included in other formations after Mavi and another part including Bekir Çiftçi and Ülkü Arman abandoned poetry. Mavi’s writers tried to associate ‘romanticism’ with ‘socialism’ in the articles published in journal.

Social Realism, social reality, Hisar, Garip current, İkinci Yeni current, litterary publication.
