ZEHRA AS A “FEMME FATALE”, A TWIN OF LILITH, IN THE TANZİMAT NOVEL
In this study the “Zehrâ” character in the novel Zehrâ by Nâbîzâde Nâzım, a novelist of the second period of the Tanzîmat epoch, is dealt with as the shifting image of woman in the Tanzîmat society; the self-love, longing for love, jealousy, revengeful instinct and desire for doing evil are analysed in parallel view with the mythological “femme-fatale” heroine “Lilith”.
