DREAMLESS LITERATURE: KALP AĞRISI AND ZEYNO’NUN OĞLU
Halide Edip Adıvar, who started to publish her literary works during II. Meşrutiyet period, has been influenced by the ideologies of the period who lived and treated social problems in her works, like many other novelists of her time. In particular, Halide Edip Adıvar, whose first novels are influenced by Pan-Turkism in Meşrutiyet, adopted a modern-mystical worldview after 1923. In this article, which deals with the relation between the language and the ideology of Halide Edip Adıvar, the relation of imaginative discourse and impression that form literary language to the ideology of its absence in her language is emphasized. Because Halide Edip Adıvar attaches importance to the chronological narration of the novel story and the clarity of the language rather than the language literacy. This is why the literary language of Halide Edip is far from images and impressionism. The modern side of her worldview is rational formation in the face of the topics she deals with; and the mystical side is that sufism is an aesthetic preference. Therefore, the language of Halide Edip is not imaginative, literal according to the world view.
