WORLD WARS IN TWO NOVELS OF AYLA KUTLU
The novels which form a basis for this study are the novels of Ayla Kutlu which are titled as Bir Göçmen Kuştu O and Emir Bey’in Kızları (Bir Göçmen Kuştu O (2)). These novels have follow-up feature and the life and family of Mr. Adil Emir Batu, the protagonist, is at the center of novels. Yet the study focuses not on the plot and characters of novel but the historical and social fact it covers. This is the fact that every stage Turkish people lived, in the period from Empire to Republic, is related with war. Therefore, it was paid attention to Kutlu’s analysis of First and Second World Wars with their reasons and results, analyses were explained through citations from texts. Moreover, the effect of war on people and society were presented together with the views on Kutlu’s mirror. Migration which is a social phenomenon created by both world wars was discussed under another title, the effect of migration on author and people was traced.
