YUSUF ZİYA ORTAÇ’S VIEWS ON CLASSICAL OTTOMAN POETRY AND TURKISH FOLK LITERATURE ON THE ROAD TO NATIONAL LITERATURE
Yusuf Ziya Ortaç joins the movement of covering native topics with sylllabic rhythm and İstanbul Turkish under the influence of Ziya Gökalp. He beings to write pieces with respect to such an understanding. This study is carried out in an effort to give Yusuf Ziya’s views on classical Ottoman poetry and Turkish Folk literature on the road to construct new and national literature. While the poet makes harsh criticism on classical Ottoman poetry, he glorifies the Turkish Folk literature. He critisizm on classical Ottoman poetry focus on prosody, language and imagination system. He establishes the factors to be taken into consideration while constructing a new and national literature.
